Earth Walker context

This is the first in a series of tales, based on the Old English poem 'The Wanderer.'

The Wanderer is a brilliant poem, easily found online, in the original Old English and in translation.
It lists the cares and woes of an exile; the identity of whom we know not, nor why he is a wanderer.
Half way through we are given his reflections on the world, and how to him it is crumbling and decaying; how his comrades have been carried of by battle and war, etc.

It's a brilliant read and I'd thoroughly recommend it.
